Wrestling

Wrestling is the most famous summer Olympic sport event. It is so popular, that it is even practiced at high-schools, colleges, and universities. Wrestling is the sport of hand-to-hand struggle between unarmed contestants who try to throw each other down to earn points. In wrestling, you must be able to control your opponent which is the most important skill you need in fighting. The 3 styles of wrestling are free-style (most popular), Greco-Roman (classic), and folkstyle.

ISU’s wrestling coaches have the highest level of expertise and training in amateur and professional wrestling. ISU’s Wrestling Head Coach, Martin Berberyan, has been training since the age of 7. Coach Berberyan has successfully competed and earned highly respected titles such as multiple Armenian National Championships (1999-2005), European Championship in 2004, World Championship in 2005, and an Olympics participant in 2000, 2004, and 2008.
